About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join a dynamic accounting team supporting a growing organization. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working across multiple areas of accounting and wants the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the organization grows.
The Accountant will support general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, revenue, inventory, and audit support while contributing to process improvements and accounting system initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accrual, prepaid, and recurring schedules.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Support month-end close and prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Research variances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Support payroll accounting, including payroll-related journal entries, commissions, bonuses, and benefit accruals.
- Assist with accounting for hardware, software, professional services, managed services, inventory, project costs, deferred revenue, and cost of goods sold.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation and assist with tax and compliance requests.
- Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, workflows, and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, automation, and efficiency.
- Utilize ERP and accounting systems to improve data accuracy, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and special projects.
- Cross-train across accounting functions and provide backup support as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.
- Experience supporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and recurring deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward a professional accounting certification.
- Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems.
- Experience in technology, managed services, professional services, distribution, or project-based environments.
- Experience with inventory accounting, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, commissions, sales tax, or service contracts.
- Experience supporting audits, tax compliance, internal controls, or accounting policy documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, implement automation, or increase reporting efficiency.
