Location: San Antonio, TX (Onsite – Monday–Friday)
Salary: $150,000


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Engineering Specialist to support and optimize critical data center infrastructure within a large enterprise environment. This role is responsible for engineering design, operational support, and infrastructure reliability across electrical systems, HVAC, fire suppression, security systems, and other core data center technologies.

This position combines hands-on technical expertise with project leadership and infrastructure planning, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment and bring strong experience in mission-critical facility operations.


Key Responsibilities

Data Center Infrastructure & Engineering

  • Design and support electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security systems for enterprise data centers
  • Monitor and optimize power utilization, cooling systems, and overall facility performance
  • Support capacity planning and infrastructure reliability initiatives
  • Coordinate installation, relocation, and retirement of data center systems and equipment

Operations & Monitoring

  • Monitor critical infrastructure systems including UPSs, PDUs, generators, HVAC, and leak detection systems
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain operational documentation, engineering specifications, and support procedures
  • Participate in on-call support rotations and after-hours maintenance activities as needed

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Lead or contribute to infrastructure implementation and upgrade projects
  • Coordinate with internal IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders on infrastructure initiatives
  • Support integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance activities for enterprise systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reliability, and operational efficiency

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support business and operational goals
  • Mentor team members on infrastructure standards, troubleshooting, and best practices
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend cost-effective infrastructure solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical systems, data center operations, or critical facility engineering
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and infrastructure systems
  • Experience supporting mission-critical environments and enterprise infrastructure
  • Ability to work onsite in San Antonio, TX

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, CRACs, chillers, and cooling systems
  • Experience reading one-line diagrams and engineering blueprints
  • Background in troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action documentation
  • Experience with EPMS, SCADA, or BMS controls systems
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification or pursuit of licensure preferred
  • Membership in IEEE preferred
  • Oil & Gas, refinery, or industrial operations experience preferred

Work Environment

  • Onsite Monday–Friday in San Antonio, TX
  • May require after-hours, weekend, or on-call support rotations
  • Some travel may be required
  • Fast-paced environment supporting critical enterprise infrastructure systems
