Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant II (Contract) to join a leading financial institution for a 6-month assignment. In this role, you will apply GAAP principles to perform core accounting functions, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, analyzing variances, and generating financial statements. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial reporting for both the Credit Union and its Service Organizations (CUSOs).
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate journal entries and financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Reconcile a wide range of general ledger accounts and resolve outages promptly
Analyze variances and provide documentation for management and board review
Maintain complex Excel spreadsheets for journal entry support and financial tracking
Cross-train and assist with critical accounting functions and issue resolution
Collaborate across teams to improve processes and ensure timely financial operations
Serve as a point of contact for internal departments and vendors regarding ledger questions
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Experience with financial institutions and member-facing transactions is preferred
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally
