Location: Northcentral San Antonio, Texas
Work Arrangement: Onsite — Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

About the Role
Our client is seeking an Application Analyst to support, configure, and maintain healthcare payer applications used for claims processing, referrals, authorizations, and eligibility management. This hands-on individual contributor will bridge business and technical teams by translating operational requirements into system configurations and workflows.
This is not a software development or basic help desk role. The position requires investigating complex application issues, identifying root causes, troubleshooting claims and benefit discrepancies, and resolving EDI transaction and data exchange problems. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership of issues through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Application Support and Troubleshooting
-
Provide technical and functional support for healthcare payer applications, including Cedar Gate EZ-Suite products such as EZ-CAP, EZ-EDI, EZ-NET, and Eligibility Manager.
-
Investigate and resolve application errors, processing discrepancies, claim pricing issues, cost-share problems, and benefit rule failures.
-
Manage service desk tickets from initial investigation through resolution, documentation, communication, and follow-up.
-
Perform routine application maintenance and approved configuration changes.
-
Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to troubleshoot complex issues and maintain application stability.
Configuration, Maintenance, and Testing
-
Review application configurations, investigate discrepancies, and recommend appropriate solutions.
-
Translate business requirements into technical configurations and workflows across business, IT, and EMR systems.
-
Support software updates, hotfixes, releases, and enhancements through testing, validation, and documentation.
-
Develop and execute test scripts and scenarios, document results, and communicate discrepancies.
-
Troubleshoot EDI transactions, including 837, 835, and 278, as well as application interfaces and data exchange issues.
-
Document functional specifications, user stories, system workflows, and operational requirements.
-
Prepare technical reports, operational metrics, and supporting analysis as needed.
Documentation, Training, and Collaboration
-
Maintain application documentation, standard operating procedures, configuration records, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
-
Provide end-user training, application guidance, and technical support.
-
Document meeting outcomes, decisions, and action items.
-
Participate in departmental projects, system implementations, and application enhancements.
-
Take ownership of assigned initiatives and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
Required Qualifications
-
At least 3 years of experience in application support, systems analysis, application configuration, business application analysis, or a related field.
-
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
-
Experience using ticketing or issue-tracking systems, documenting technical processes, and participating in application testing.
-
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
-
Willingness to perform routine support and maintenance alongside improvement projects.
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field. Four additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required experience may substitute for the degree.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting or configuring EZ-CAP or other Cedar Gate EZ-Suite applications; strongly preferred.
-
Experience in healthcare payer, managed care, medical group, health plan, or third-party administrator (TPA) environments.
-
Knowledge of health plan configuration, benefit setup, or claims adjustment.
-
Working knowledge of EDI transactions, including 837, 835, and 278.
-
Experience supporting healthcare applications and understanding how configuration changes affect business operations.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex system problems and takes ownership of issues until they are resolved. They are detail-oriented, persistent, calm under pressure, and able to communicate professionally when addressing high-visibility issues. This role is best suited to someone who wants to deepen their technical and functional expertise as an individual contributor rather than pursue an immediate management track.
Work Environment and Benefits
-
Fully onsite position in Northcentral San Antonio, Texas; no remote or hybrid option.
-
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
-
Candidates currently living in or having established ties to the San Antonio area are strongly preferred.
-
401(k) with profit sharing.
-
Competitive health benefits.
